Four People Shot at Howe Community Park – Unauthorized Event Descends into Chaos





On the evening of Saturday April 18, an unlawful gathering of a large crowd at Howe Park in the Arden-Arcade section of Sacramento descended into chaos when upwards of 20 gunshots were fired as law enforcement officers were in the process of removing people from the park.

How Events Unfolded

Around 6:30 in the evening, the Sacramento County Sheriff received calls regarding persons reportedly carrying concealed firearms at Howe Park. A follow-up call indicated a potential fight and subjects running away.

Aerial units was sent to the area and scanned the park but found no evidence of any physical confrontation.

Nonetheless, multiple hundreds of people had collected at the park for what law enforcement classified as an unlawful gathering. Officers surrounded the park, activated emergency lights, and gave the crowd approximately 15 minutes instructing attendees to vacate the area via loudspeaker announcements.

While deputies were dispersing the crowd, an estimated 20 to 25 rounds were discharged — sending hundreds of people running in every direction.

Shooting Victims

Four shooting victims — one woman and three male victims, all in their 20s — were taken to nearby hospitals. Two of the victims had serious injuries, one was classified with moderate injuries, and one check here was treated for minor injuries. All four were listed as stable. The Investigation Scene

The shooting was centered on the Cottage Way side of the park close to the nearby Home Depot at the 2200 block of Howe Avenue. Suspect Information

According to scanner audio, it was reported that a suspect car — identified as a Kia — was pulled over in nearby Solano County with four occupants detained. Sacramento County Sheriff's Office units were traveling to collect those detained and return them to Sacramento.
